Baking is my passion but boy can it be stressful sometimes!
I recently got asked to make a Minecraft cake 3 days before the child's
birthday party. Panic ensued! But once I'd drawn out my ideas and plans it was
down to work.
My brief: To make a Minecraft block cake out of vanilla sponge
and 8 chocolate cupcakes to go around it with the child's name and age on top.
This was the final outcome:
The block was made up of 4 layers of sponge with jam and
buttercream filling.
The characters were modelled out of icing sugar and I wanted
to make them completely edible so I couldn't use supporting wire of wooden
sticks.
A few days later I was asked to make another birthday cake.
This time a much simpler Mario cake.
This was a simple sponge cake. I made templates for the
decorations and cut each part out by hand.
